MK Stalin wonders how PM Narendra Modi met OPS but not farmers in Delhi DMK’s working president MK Stalin today wondered how Prime Minister Narendra Modi could meet AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) leader O Panneerselvam but not the farmers or himself, who wanted to take up their cause with him. Stalin said he was not finding fault with the meeting between Modi and the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in Delhi two days back, but sought to know why he had no time for farmers from the state, who had been staging protest in the national capital for long. Panneerselvam was not holding any position now and was only a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) but he was given appointment by Modi on "short notice," Stalin said. "What I am asking is, you (PM) are aware of the plight of farmers who are facing so many difficulties. They held protest in Delhi for almost 50 days."                "But the Prime Minister never gave an appointment t...

MGR's entry in DMK Party      In 1953, actor M. G. Ramachandran ("MGR") joined the DMK, popularised the party flag and symbol which at that time stood for secession from India by showing it in his movies. R. Nedunchezhiyan losing from Salem although M Karunanidhi won after initially having opposed all-Indian government and later supporting only those parties which promised to help its secession from India cause. Then in 1962 another prominent actor S.S.Rajendran ("SSR") contested in Theni, legislative assembly election, against the then popular congress le...

Both Rajinikanth and Haasan, the two top actors of Tamil cinema, have announced their political forays, proposing to float their political parties in the coming days.   A senior DMK leader in North Tamil Nadu said that Stalin would unlikely to bring in Udhayanidhi into politics anytime soon. "If at all Udhayanidhi takes a political plunge, it will in no way help the party. It will provide an opportunity for the rival parties to again start a campaign on family politics. There is still time for him to enter politics," the leader said, adding that the ruling AIADMK government has become unpopular and DMK has the momentum to come to power again. After the humiliating defeat in the RK Nagar Assembly bypoll, the DMK is pulling its strings to...
